I had a distal biceps tendon release, debridement and repair performed by Mr Joideep Phadnis after I suffered a biceps tendon partial tear in my right arm, which caused a great deal of pain at times and being my right/dominant arm had caused me to give up on several hobbies and interests which were really important aspects of my life, let alone just day to day living. I wish I had found him sooner! Initially, under the care of another consultant, I was keen to go down the conservative route of rest, and also tried steroid injections, but always after a period relatively pain free, the problem would return. At the 3 year stage I decided I had given it quite long enough to heal, and after some research found my way to Mr Phadnis. He listened to my story (which others had not taken too seriously) talked me through the results of the MRI, my options and the risks very carefully, and not without some trepidation I took the decision to have surgery. Recovery was difficult (not using my dominant arm) especially in the first few weeks, but I am now well into the full recovery period and feeling very optimistic about a future in which I can use my right arm again without pain. I am so grateful!

I am beyond thrilled with the outcome of my elbow surgery. My ongoing pain was significant and debilitating however, three months down the line I am pain free. The whole experience from the moment I was seen by Mr. Phadnis was extremely positive, professional and caring. I cannot thank this talented man enough. I am sure he must be proud of his team also who were amazing with their communication at all times prior to the operation and post operative care. Thank you Mr Phadnis !

After waiting many weeks for an appropriately specialised surgeon on the National Health for the operation I needed on my elbow, I did some research and emailed Mr Phadnis’ secretary on a Monday. That same day she responded giving me an appointment with him that Wednesday and a theatre slot the following week Wednesday. Mr Phadnis offered part keyhole and part open surgery to pin a part of the bone and reattach a ligament. After X-rays we’re taken, he explained the injury and operation thoroughly at my initial consultation. I was discharged the same day as the operation and everyone at Montefiore, including Mr Phadnis, the anaesthetist, nurses and admin staff were amazing. Mr Phadnis actively seeks feedback on the patients progress by means of regular questionnaires emailed before and after the operation, which I also found reassuring. I would recommend him to anyone unfortunate enough to need his help.

So I was fairly unenthusiastic to begin treatment originally, because I had multiple doctors previously state my injury was either going to leave me permanently with less movement in my arm, or needed to keep metal work in my arm, or just that they weren't sure on what steps to take to give me the right care, so when I was then referred to Mr Phadnis who was about 2 and a half hours away, (I don't drive) I was very sceptical to begin treatment, Thankfully I was proven very very wrong and going was the best decision I made, Mr Phadnis was able to look over the arm and work out fairly quickly a plan that was unique different and didn't involve any metal work, and gave me additional movement and freed nerve pain all at once, all worked out and figured within about 4-5 months. I previously had this issue for about 3 years so to have a surgeon that not only told me he could fix the issue, but that I would potentially have full movement without any lasting metal work was incredible, private treatment was fairly new to me so I was fairly underwhelmed when originally told that my first surgeon couldn't take on the job because it wasn't his field but glad once I had properly spoken to Mr Phadnis, so I would whole heartedly recommend Mr Phadnis to anyone seeking treatment, I was given a second chance which I truly didn't believe I would get and will forever be grateful for that.

I have thought long and hard regarding undertaking Rotator Cuff surgery. Mr. Joideep Phadnis was recommended to me by an active colleague of his and a personal friend. Mr. Phadnis was very thoughtful, listened to my situation and planned a sensible course of action over the next 6-month period. We re-evaluated my situation after this period and after consultation decided to take the surgery
